Musicians in Charisma

All members of Charisma have extensive experience performing in a variety of musical formats, including R&B, rock, funk, disco, and jazz.

  • Marie G - lead vocals, piano, percussion

    Lead vocals, percussion, flute, piano

    Marie G has been singing and performing in the greater NY, CT, and MA region with various original and cover bands since 1985. She holds a Bachelor of Music in performance (flute and piano) and has earned both BS and MS degrees in Music Education. In Charisma, Marie sings lead and plays flute, piano, and percussion. She is capable of performing a wide variety of musical styes, and has worked as a songwriter and a first-call lead singer with the top talent agencies in NY, CT, and MA. Prior to joining Charisma, Marie performed with many top-notch wedding/cover bands in the area, including: Locomotion, Solid Gold, Stolen Moments, Moonlight Silhouettes, Steppin’ Out, Them Bones, and Forever Yours. Her original funk band “Grooveyard” placed two consecutive years in the “Best of New Haven” Advocate polls. She has been featured as a singer and flutist on numerous studio recording sessions covering a wide range of musical styles. Notably, Marie has worked with Janice Dempsey (songwriter for Chaka Chan), and jazz musician Chris Geith. In 1997, Marie wrote, recorded, and produced a 4-song demo which received extensive local airplay – and eventually became one of the 20 finalists in the Levi's/Lilith Fair Talent Contest out of thousands of applicants. Currently Marie is a choral director and general music teacher for the Somers, NY school system. Her original music can be purchased from iTunes and CD Baby.

    Ever since his first gig in 1974, George D’Aiuto has had the privilege of performing in the Connecticut and New York area with a wide variety of phenomenal musicians. During the 1980s, George worked as a studio musician and also toured with Michael Bolton. For nearly 15 years, George shared the spotlight in a popular guitar/piano duo, Scratch & Sniff. In 2005 George joined Charisma as lead singer, keyboard player, and guitarist. During the 1980s, George was a highly accomplished and recognized songwriter in the greater NY area, penning many songs performed live by his bands and others. Experience, hard work, and professionalism have brought George a long way since he first decided to pursue a career in music - a decision he made after seeing The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show!

    Peter Obre is a professionally trained and accomplished musician and music educator, with over 40 years of professional performance experience. Peter holds a Master’s Degree in music composition and performance from The Hartt School of Music in Hartford, Connecticut. He has lectured in music theory and composition at Columbia University, was previously employed as the Band Director at the Newtown Middle School, and is currently employed as a General Music and Chorus teacher in the Danbury, CT school system.  Additionally, Peter serves as the Music Director at churches in Newtown and Westport, CT.  He performs and teaches guitar, bass, and mandolin, and is a highly sought after teacher and founder of Obre Guitar Studio in Newtown, CT.  Prior to joining Charisma, Peter worked with Mark Rivera (Billy Joel’s band), John Hall (Orleans), and regularly performed with Alan Johnson in a popular local guitar duo. Peter can switch effortlessly among nearly all styles of music, including solo classical guitar, which can provide a relaxing atmosphere during the cocktail hour at your event.


  • Jon Blanck - saxophone, piano, keyboards, vocals

    Jazz saxophonist, pianist, and composer Jon Blanck graduated from WestConn University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Performance. In addition to Charisma, Jon's performance credentials include: Funkeeboy, Peter Bernstein, P-Funk Allstars, Rico Lewis, Lige Curry, Varsity Squad, Deep Intentions, the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra, the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, and the Jazz Stars Big Band. He has performed on and recorded over 30 albums, most recently with the Verve Jazz Ensemble - their debut CD “It’s About Time" hit #5 on the Jazz Radio Charts during 2013. Jon is also a sought after writer and arranger, and has worked with the staff composers at the Apollo Theater (NYC), Joan Jett, Tye Tribbett, Joe Perry, the Michael J. Fox Benefit Concert, the Muhammed Ali “Power of Love” Gala, and Stevie Wonder’s 17th Annual “House Full of Toys” benefit concert. He also has arranged musical scores broadcasted on major television networks such as ABC, ESPN, and PBS. Jon has been teaching piano and saxophone privately for 10+ years and currently hosts clinics and master classes via the Armstrong Chamber Concert Series at schools throughout the tri-state area. In addition to piano and saxophone Jon also plays flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, and percussion. At your event, Jon can provide jazz or classical piano during the ceremony or cocktail hour.

  • Mitchell Taub - bass, vocals

    Mitchell Taub has been involved in musical performance since elementary school, when he first learned the language of music playing the clarinet. Mitch can play multiple instruments, including the bass guitar, an instrument he has been studying and performing with for over 25 years. He studied jazz improvisation with bebop legend Max Roach during his college years in the Jazz Department at the University of MA, Amherst. Prior to studying at UMASS, he was awarded the bass seat in the Massachusetts Northeast District Jazz Band in the early 1980s.  Mitch is capable of playing multiple styles of bass guitar, including rock, jazz, reggae, and funk, and has also played bass for local performances of Broadway musicals.  Mitch has performed in various formats and venues in Boston, New York, Los Angeles, and Copenhagen, Denmark.


  • Bob Bonvini on drums

    Bob Bonvini studied drums and percussion for many years with teachers in Connecticut and New York City and has been laying down soulful rhythms in various bands for over 30 years. Bob's drumming style has been heavily influenced by legendary drummers such as David Garibaldi (Tower of Power) and Dave Weckl. Bob’s solid grooves are a key component of the Charisma’s sound and a favorite focus point for those in our audiences who appreciate a solid and tasteful percussive foundation.
